Getting started
Download, send your first message, and add a contact.
Download
Ndevar is available on the App Store for iPhone. Requires iOS 16 or later with Bluetooth enabled.
After downloading, open the app. Your identity is created automatically on your device — no signup required. You'll see a shortAddress: an 8-character code that uniquely identifies your device.
No account is needed to send and receive messages.
Send your first message
To send a message to someone:
- Tap the compose button
- Enter their shortAddress (the 8-character code from their device)
- Type your message and send
The message will be delivered via Bluetooth if they're nearby, or via the internet relay if you both have connectivity.
No signal? If you're offline, the message will be held and delivered when a route becomes available — through nearby devices if you're in a crowd, or when your connection returns.
Add a contact
After exchanging at least one message, you can save a contact:
- Open the conversation
- Tap the contact header
- Tap Add to contacts
- Enter a name for this contact
If the other person has sharing enabled, you may already see their display name and profile.
Share your shortAddress
The easiest way to share your shortAddress with someone:
- Go to Settings → Identity
- Tap Share shortAddress
- Share via QR code, AirDrop, or copy the text
Anyone who scans your QR code or types your shortAddress can send you a message — even without an account.
